Lal Lal Primary School opened in 1886, in the township of Lal Lal, about 25km south-east of Ballarat.  The school is set amongst scattered properties of small acreage.   Most children walk, ride bikes, ride a horse or are driven to school from the surrounding district.  A bus brings children from the Elaine area since their school closed in 1999.  The student population is culturally diverse.

Buninyong and Mt Clear are the nearest centres for kindergarten. The local play-group is held at the school on a Thursday morning. Come along and join in the activities and use of school facilities.
